MOPS S is an effective oil and liquid absorbent based on a granular inert diatomaceous earth sourced in Australia. It is safe, hygienic, handy and has many applications.
Application
MOPS S is can be used in domestic and industrial applications
Industrial Application
- Garages, workshops, machine shops
- Tanneries
- Oil & Paint stores
- Lift wells
- Mastic floors
- Pattern making
- Floor ash trays
Product Use
- Absorbs oil and other petroleum products
- Absorbs undesirable process fluids Packaging
- Ideal packaging medium for transport of liquid samples
- Safe absorption of paints, oils, varnishes, solvents and disinfectants (see note 2)
- Absorbs oil and grease run-off
- Preserved longer when kept dry with Castrol MOP S
- Speeds production by absorbing moisture from wood patterns after they have been set in wet sand
- Assists deodorising and makes cleaning easier, ideal when used with disinfectant
Domestic Application
- Pets
- Oil drip tray
- Organic gardens
- Snail deterrent
- Potting
- Laundry
- Garbage bin
- Cellers
- Aquariums
Product Use
- Sanitary carpet for pet boxes/kennels. NB: Change frequently
- For car-ports and garages
- Use in breaking up clayey soil
- A safe garden snail deterrent; acts by dehydrating the snail after it has been in contact with a portion of the Castrol MOP S granules (see note 1)
- Mixture with potting compost for aertion and moisture retention
- Accidental spillages absorbed quickly
- Helps to deodorise refuse
- Assists removal of dampness
- For use as an inert non toxic filtration material
Advantages
- Safe, Hygienic, Handy
- Solid, but light in weight - Easy to transport
- Does not mat down or have dust forming tendency under normal traffic conditions
- Non-flammable in itself, unlike sawdust, rags or cotton waste (See Note 2) - Health and safety acceptable
- Simply spread over affected areas - Ready and easy to use
- Starts absorbing immediately. Once saturated, it retains the charge and will not bleed liquid back onto the ground -
- Effective spill clean up
- Will draw up approximately its own weight in oil - Excellent absorbency
Typical Physical Characteristics
- Appearance: Whitish brown inert material
- Texture: Granular
- Odour: Odourless
- Coverage: A 30 litre bag will cover an area of approximately 14 square metres to a depth of 3mm
User Advice
Castrol MOP S should be replaced when saturation is reached. This stage is indicated by the colour of the material, e.g. BLACK – where contaminants are oil
DARK BROWN- after contact with acids, water and other liquids
CAUTION: where contaminant is toxic or corrosive, take appropriate precautions.
NOTES
- Recommended for use as a snail deterrent by a number of organic growers, as a safer alternative to poisonous baits.
- If Castrol MOP S has been used to absorb toxic or flammable substances it will not “neutralise” them. Thus used Castrol MOP S will, to some degree, exhibit the properties of the substance that has been absorbed and the appropriate precautions must be taken in handling and disposal.
- For traffic-hardened oil and grease, first scrape away the bulk of the substance, then apply a Degreaser to soften the residue. Finally, apply Castrol MOP S.
